DeesheeyaVidyaShala, Shimoga which was established in 1943 by the leading citizens of Shimoga is one of the premier institutions in the state of Karnataka. It is situated in the heart malnad district head quartersShimoga city.
The logo is framed keeping in mind the vision and mission of the institution.It Also reflects the great ideals of education as perceived by the ancient Indian scholars.Teacher is placed at the center as he is the key factor in the field of education. The rays around him suggest the spread of wisdom and enlightenment. The vyasaPeetha in front of the Guru is the symbol of knowledge,which the institution spreads . The logo, which is circular in its shape, reflects wholeness, completeness and perfection. The swans on the either side symbolize reason and thought. The Swans, Which rise above, suggest upward movement of one’s life from the lower level .This logo Sums up the goal of our institution. Therefore this logo has been adopted and sincerely emulated.
This Institution was founded by the freedom fighters and teachers in response to the call given by the Father of our nation, Mahatma Gandhi. It was established with the noble intention of creating awareness of Nationalism and to serve the cause of education for the children of this malnad region. The Institution which had only 7 students in the beginning has now grown about to have 6000 students.

Our History

1943 -

Deesheeya Vidya Shala, Shimoga which was established in 1943 by the leading citizens of Shimoga is one of the premier institutions in the state of Karnataka. It is situated in the heart malnad district head quarters Shimoga city. The Name of the city is closely associated with areca nut market probably for the biggest one in the country. Besides the district gave birth to literary luminaries like Kuvempu, Dr.G.S. Shivarudrappa, the poet laureates and Dr. U.R. Ananthamurthy, The Jnanapetha awardee and Dr. S. R.Rao, an eminent Historian. It is also a matter of great pride that world-renowned cine director Girish Kasaravalli Who got Golden Lotus award four times for his films hails from this District.

1966 -

In 1966, D.V.S. Science P.U. College has established with D.V.S. Composite Degree College.Our college has a history of fifty years. From the day it has started to till today we are providing good quality of education to the students. With the intention of all round development of the students we have given importance to enhance the quality of education as well as in other areas. Such as, co-curricular activities, sports, NCC etc.

2001 -

During the period of August 1st 2001 it has bifurcated from D.V.S. Arts and Science College as per the rules and regulations under government education department.
