About DVS Pre-university(Independent)College

Responding to the call of Mahatma Gandhiji, the Father of the Nation, the visionary teachers of Shivamogga, with a noble intention started the D.V.S. Institution. It had a humble beginning and now it boasts of many institutions.

* D.V.S.Pre-University (Ind.) College is one of the constituent colleges of D.V.S. Group of Institutions. Our college is one of the oldest and the reputed colleges in the city. Now it is all set for its Golden Jubilee Celebrations.

* Realizing the importance of +2 as a crucial stage in the students education the management decided to start a Junior college in 1972. We are proud to state that our college was one among the first five independent PU colleges in the entire state of Karnataka. The special trust on preparing the students for higher education was the focal point then and continues to be even today.

* The Management and the faculty aimed and toiled in making this college a Centre of Excellence. Right from its inception, the parents had faith and sought the admission to their wards in our college. The college which started with a handful of 28 students has now grown to accommodate nearly 1200 students in all three streams that is Science, Arts and Commerce.

* The college has carved a niche for itself in offering quality teaching by securing ranks consistently, when the system of ranking was in practice. As a result the college has been attracting top scorers not only from different parts of state but also from neighboring states.

* The spree of getting ranks started way back in 1973-74 and continued till 1997-98 until the end of ranking system in the state. The institution to its credit has a breaking record of 64 ranks and to add a feather in its cap, secured 1st Rank for 7 times in different streams. Even to this day the college has been imparting quality education and sending out the best, highly trained students to the higher institutions all over the country and across the seas.

* Our alumni have found place in many prestigious institutions such as IITs, IIMs, IIScs, Research Institutes etc----

* Besides academics our wards have excelled in other activities like sports and cultural field. Our students have won and brought laurels in National and International competitions. Even in music and dance, some of our students have made name and fame and have continued their profession in the same field. They have reached the heights of excellence too.
